Do you enjoy the challenge of ensuring that the Veldhoven Library also becomes the place where multilingual children between 0 and 12 years old enjoy coming to read, discover, learn and participate in fun activities together? Because the Veldhoven community is growing and becoming more international, we are looking for a Community Librarian Youth / Front Office employee for 14 to 18 hours per week.

What you will do?

  • Just over half of your working hours will be focused on reaching, inspiring and supporting multilingual children ages 0 to 12 and their parents and caregivers. You will do this through three pillars: collection, expertise and programming.

You share your expertise on multilingualism and multilingual collections internally and externally.
  • In addition, you will work 2 shifts per week in the Front Office of the Veldhoven Library. You will be the first point of contact for visitors and ensure an inviting and inspiring atmosphere in the library. You will assist visitors in finding their way, give advice and help with digital questions. You will encourage people to read and continue to develop their digital skills. In doing so, you will also learn about visitors and society, using this knowledge to optimize your role as a Community Librarian and vice versa.

What do we ask of you?

  • Besides proficiency in Dutch (at least level B1) and English, you preferably have proficiency in another language.
  • You are independent and flexible regarding work content and working hours.

What do we offer?

  • An appointment for a minimum of 14 and a maximum of 18 hours per week. Initially for one year, with the intention of employment for an indefinite period. Working hours to be agreed upon.
